Four Cousins Marula Dream Ice-Cream Cones

The Four Cousins Marula Dream is not just a creamy liqueur, which can be enjoyed chilled on a scorching day, but a versatile ingredient in the grown-up ice cream cone.

Marula & Praline Ice Cream Cones

INGREDIENTS:

Marula Dreams Ice-Cream

  • 600 ml Double Cream
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) Marula Dream liqueur
  • 1 x tin (397g) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 200ml Cream, whipped

Almond Praline

  • 1/2 cup (125ml) Caster Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) Cold Water
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Slivered Almonds

METHOD:

Make the praline first, as this has to set and cool down completely before combining with the ice cream mixture.

Praline:

Line a baking tray with baking paper. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until sugar has dissolved.

Increase heat to high. Bring to the boil. Boil, without stirring, for 5 to 7 minutes or until mixture turns golden. Remove from heat. Set aside for 2 minutes to allow bubbles to subside. Add almonds. Pour onto prepared tray. Allow to cool. Finely chop the praline into smaller pieces, which can be incorporated into the ice-cream mixture.

Ice-Cream:

To make the ice cream, whisk the double cream, vanilla, Four Cousins Marula Dream and condensed milk together until smooth and thickened slightly. Fold in the whipped cream, stir in some of the cooled (and chopped/broken) praline, then pour into a container which is suitable for the freezer; freeze for about 4 hours or until firm.

Scoop the ice cream into sugar cones (or other cones of your preference) and enjoy as dessert or a special treat. I even sprinkled them with Woolworths Cocoa-dusted meringue.

The taste of Four Cousins Marula Dream is proudly African and captures flavours of fruit from the indigenous African Marula tree. The liqueur is blended to perfection using the finest natural ingredients, captivating the exotic essence of Africa.
